The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently invited me to join the Quality Payment Program Clinician Champions, and I accepted the opportunity. CMS understands that an important part of the Quality Payment Program includes partnering with clinicians, those who represent clinicians, and other stakeholders to elicit feedback and help support continuous program improvement. CMS also values this partnership as an important part of the transition to a value-based health system. That’s why CMS established the Clinician Champions Program in 2016 and the Champions remain an important part of the Quality Payment Program today. Serving as a Clinician Champion provides an opportunity for me to collaborate with CMS in a voluntary capacity, sharing my insights to the program and representing a community of my peers. This exciting partnership with CMS allows me to help communicate about the Quality Payment Program, provide leading edge perspective on the value of the program, identify successes and challenges, and share valuable feedback.
